If you want to design your own schedule, keep these points in mind: 

  • It's not that easy. Trying to satisfy multiple concerns is difficult, even for an expert. There are coverage requirements, staffing and overtime constraints, and employee preferences that must be considered.
     

  • It takes a lot of time. Sure, you can learn how to design a schedule. But do you really have the time?
     

  • Oversights can be costly. You may not come up with the best possible solution. You might sacrifice some of your coverage unnecessarily. You might hire more people than you need. Or you might miss an opportunity to give your workers more weekends off. 

Hiring a professional schedule designer is a good investment. In the long run, you'll save both time and money. Plus you'll avoid the frustration of trying to come up with a solution that isn't feasible. You'll be assured of finding the best possible schedule for your group.

The design process is easy. Just tell us:

  • Coverage requirements (i.e. the number of employees you want to show up for work on each shift, each day of the week)
     

  • Preferred shift length (8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour)
     

  • Fixed or rotating shifts
     

  • Number of employees working the schedule (please exclude supervisors)
     

  • Overtime restrictions (if any)
     

  • Desired schedule features (e.g., maximum of 5 days worked in a row, or at least one weekend off every month)

You'll receive an Excel spreadsheet showing the on-off work pattern (click here for an example). We can convert this to an annual calendar format if you prefer (click here for an example). You will also get a follow-up phone call to explain the results and answer any questions you have about the schedule. Prices for this service usually range from $300 to $600. There is an extra $150 fee for the annual calendar format. We accept all major credit cards or business/personal checks.
